The Whitby Santa Claus Parade has been held on the first Saturday of December for 50+ years. An event for all ages, the Whitby Santa Claus Parade showcases over 50 organizations holiday spirit as they walk along the Brock St. parade route. The Whitby Santa Claus Parade was organized by JCI Durham for the first 50 years of the parades history. The Optimist Club of Brooklin, Ontario took over the organization of the parade in 2022 and looks forward to continuing the traditions that JCI Durham started.

A limit of one entry into the Whitby Santa Claus Parade is permitted per organization and limited to a maximum length of 53 feet.
There shall be only one Santa Claus and he will ride on the official float c/o Rotary Club of Whitby & Brooklin Satellite Club
There shall be only one Grinch and he will ride on the official float c/o Rotary Club of Whitby Sunrise
All participants are responsible for ensuring that the design and operation of their entry is safe and reliable. Entries must comply with all safety, regulations, listening, codes, etc. Safety of participants and the general public is a top priority. Safety is the ultimate responsibility of each individual entry.
Participants should not be transported on open roads to or from the parade on the back of motorized vehicles, trailers, etc. Participants should not have their feet dangling over the sides of entries motorized vehicles, trailers, etc. Participants should be seated or in a static standing position on entries with motorized vehicles, trailers, etc.
Entries must always maintain a forward motion unless they are asked to stop by a parade marshall or an emergency stop is required. All entries must keep pace with the parade to prevent gaps between entries and ensure the parade is finished on time so roads can be reopened to traffic.
All parade entries and participants must be decorated based on the theme of the parade. Motorized vehicles and trailers included. Entries that are not decorated may be removed from the parade at the discretion of The Optimist Club of Brooklin, Ontario.
Under no circumstances is anything to be thrown or tossed along the parade route. This includes candy and snowballs (if they exist). Participants may distribute individually packaged candy by hand to spectators. Please do so at the edge of the road as we do not want children encouraged to run into the street.
Parade entries are not permitted to sell any goods or services along the parade route or in the staging areas.
Parade entries are not permitted to distribute printed or promotional materials along the parade route or in the staging areas. (This includes candy with logos.)
Please do not litter. It is the responsibility of all participants to pickup after themselves, this includes if you drop a candy you are handing out.
Drugs, alcohol, cannabis and smoking are forbidden on any entry. Any participant suspected of being under the influence will be removed from the parade.
Well-mannered dogs are permitted. Dogs must be on a leash (flexible/extendable leashes are not permitted) and in the control of their owner. Cleanup is the responsibility of the owner.
The staging area will be on Manning Rd. from Brock St. to Garden St.
Manning Rd. from Brock St. to Garden St. will be closed in both directions beginning at 8AM.
Entries with motorized vehicles will enter the marshalling area from Garden St. onto Manning Rd.
Entries with motorized vehicles are to arrive at the staging area between 8:00 and 9:00 AM to avoid any possible accident with children. Entries with motorized vehicles that are not in the marshalling area by 9:00 AM may be removed from the parade at the discretion of The Optimist Club of Brooklin, Ontario.
All drivers of motorized vehicles are to remain with their vehicles in the staging area as they may be required to move them at a moment’s notice.
Entries will begin aligning in order on the north side of Manning Rd. at Brock St. facing west. Entrants will continue to be lined up until Garden St.
Any entry may be refused up to the start of the parade if it does not meet these guidelines or differs from its approved entry form.
Paid entries can receive a refund up to 7 days before the event if they decide they can no longer participate.
Whitby Santa Claus Parade Rules & Regulations are subject to change at any time at the sole discretion of The Optimist Club of Brooklin, Ontario.
Road access to Brock St. between Manning Rd. and Burns. St. will be closed for the parade. Please park on side streets near the parade route.
